On Sunday, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov voiced Moscow’s escalating concern over the rising tensions gripping the region, citing what he characterized as Washington’s aggressive push for regional dominance. Speaking to the state news agency TASS, Ryabkov articulated Russia’s view that the instability is primarily rooted in actions intended to enforce unchallenged U.S. hegemony in the hemisphere—a characteristic he linked directly to the foreign policy approach of the Trump administration. He reiterated that Moscow is tracking events in Venezuela “with deepening concern,” stressing the need for restraint from external actors.

Since early September, the U.S. military has openly acknowledged conducting a sharp increase in operations targeting suspected illicit maritime activity. Publicly available statistics indicate that the Pentagon has executed at least 22 confirmed strikes against narcotics vessels in the Caribbean and eastern Pacific. These operations have regrettably resulted in significant casualties, with figures reporting over 87 fatalities onboard the targeted vessels.
