Hong Kong Police Investigate Brutal Teenage Bullying Assault Captured on Video

Hong Kong police have launched a serious investigation into a distressing video circulating online that depicts a 17-year-old girl being violently assaulted by a group of female teenagers inside a commercial building restroom in Mong Kok. The victim, who sustained significant injuries including facial swelling, head trauma, and severe bruising, initially feared reporting the incident due to concerns about retaliation. Following the discovery of the disturbing footage online, the victim filed a police report on November 5, prompting a swift police response leading to the arrest of one juvenile suspect.

Details Emerge in Assault Occasioning Actual Bodily Harm Case

Detectives from the Mong Kok District Crime Squad are currently treating the incident as assault occasioning actual bodily harm, a serious offense under Hong Kong’s Offences Against the Person Ordinance (Cap. 212), which carries a maximum penalty of three years in prison.

The savage attack reportedly took place in mid-October at Golden Chicken Square in Mong Kok. Sources familiar with the investigation suggest the violence stemmed from a dispute involving money and relationship conflicts among the parties, who were acquainted. At least seven girls, all under the age of 18, were present during the confrontation, with two to three leading the aggressive assault. The severity of the beating reportedly caused the victim to lose consciousness for approximately 30 minutes. Alarmingly, no one present immediately contacted emergency services or police.

Following the victim’s formal report, authorities acted quickly, arresting a 16-year-old female suspect in Tsuen Wan on Friday. This suspect remains in custody as of publication time. Police are actively pursuing two additional suspects, aged 15 and 13.

Disturbing Footage Documents Repeated Attacks

The viral footage, reportedly over six minutes long, captures the victim being trapped and severely beaten within the confines of an accessible lavatory. The video shows a primary assailant, distinctively visible with a tattoo, repeatedly confronting the victim about perceived faults, including accusations regarding wasted money on vaping products.

The assault escalated rapidly from verbal abuse to extreme physical violence. The aggressor is seen delivering a barrage of slaps, shoves, and kicks. In particularly brutal moments, the suspect forcibly slams the victim’s head against the wall, with the sounds of the impact heard clearly on the recording.

A second assailant soon joined the attack, accusing the victim of kissing a male acquaintance before delivering repeated open-hand blows, headshots, and knee strikes. The attackers periodically left and re-entered the small space, resuming their assault each time. The victim, visibly distressed and sobbing, ultimately offered no resistance, only pleading for her earrings not to be pulled, while covering her face and head. Even when witnesses verbally attempted to de-escalate the situation, they were reportedly silenced by others, emphasizing the determination of the group to conceal the crime.

Police Vow Increased Visibility and Law Enforcement

The incident highlights the serious issue of youth violence in urban areas. Following the reports, the Hong Kong Police Force reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining order and swiftly bringing offenders to justice.

Mong Kok officers have been instructed to maintain a visible patrol presence, utilizing a combination of uniformed and plainclothes patrols, alongside intelligence-led deployments and multi-agency operations, to prevent and combat crime. Authorities urge the public to respect the law and report any illegal activities immediately.

The investigation is ongoing, and police are dedicated to locating and prosecuting all individuals involved in this violent assault to ensure community safety. Legal experts note that given the clear evidence of actual bodily harm, those convicted face significant penalties under Hong Kong law.
